My 2015 To Do List

Albert Einstein defined insanity as the act of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

By that definition, the idea of me making ANOTHER set of New Year’s resolutions is totally insane.

So I won’t.

But, a to do list is a completely different thing.

I love making to do lists. It’s so satisfying when you can check off a completed task. And I feel absolutely no pressure to finish everything on the list. If I did that, what would I have to carry over to my new list?!

So without further ado, and because the clock is ticking down on New Year’s Day, here’s what I came up with. My 2015 to do list.

15 in 2015

In 2015 I Will…
  1. Shower my grandsons with as many hugs and kisses as they will allow.
  2. Try new wines.
  3. Improve my knife skills. (For cooking not for surgery or being a ninja.)
  4. Learn HTML code. Also, hire someone to help me when I screw up the HTML.
  5. Attend at least three Notre Dame home football games. I would prefer victories if that’s ok.
  6. Visit Napa, Sonoma and Santa Barbara wine countries. (See #2)
  7. Sign up for French lessons.
  8. Pay it forward whenever I can.
  9. Read more. And I mean books, not People Magazine or TMZ.
  10. Become more active on Instagram (for Clare).
  11. Host not one but TWO wine tasting parties to make up for the fact that we skipped 2014.
  12. Wear my yoga pants for yoga and not just for grocery shopping.
  13. Make plans to meet – in person – some of the fabulous bloggers who have been so kind and supportive.
  14. MOVE BACK TO CHICAGO!
  15. Finally, and most importantly, take every opportunity to celebrate the blessings of family and friends. Nothing else matters without them, right?

Wishing you all a year filled with love and laughter, many more highs than lows, good health, good fortune and an abundance of blessings.

  1. Numbers 7, 9, 12 & 13 are on my list too! Number 7 because I just spent a couple weeks in Paris and realized how much more fun it would be to return speaking the language more than excusing myself to them for my lack, #9 because, well, it needs no explanation, #12 because I’ve signed up for Barre3 and want to incorporate that more into my daily routine and #13 because I’m sure these on-line friends and acquaintances would be a delight to meet IRL. Happy New Year, my blogging friend!

    • Happy New Year, Barbara! I have to tell you that my list was made with your concept of “three desired feelings” in mind. My words: Connected, Wiser and Loved. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Didn’t you just move? 😉 But those sound like some fun and very attainable goals for 2015. I have things I want to do this year, I just haven’t really fully thought them out. Happy start of the year, Mo!

  3. Yay for moving back to Chicago! The blogging community here is big and very active. The Chicago Blogger Network is a great way to connect with other bloggers here.

  5. Happy New Year! I also don’t make resolutions because I know myself and I know I’ll break them within the first few days. Instead, I make goals. My main goals this year are to learn to say no and get more balance in my life. I think your to do list is awesome!

  6. You are a woman after my own heart. Another list lady!!!!!! I once made a list of all the lists I needed to make. It was heaven.

I love your to do list for the year. They will help guide you to lead the life you want to lead. How fabulous is that?!?!

    Have a wonderful 2015

I’m happy to help with any book recs if you need them 🙂 I’m also hoping to take a trip to Chicago this year and will need tips!

  8. Great list! I love instagram, especially because I can interact with my daughters.

  9. #15 is my favorite for sure!!!
And, we need to have a midwest wine tasting party when you are in Chicago – KS/IL not that far!!!

  10. I love your to-do list! We’ll have to see if we can meet-up when you’re in town for one of those Notre Dame games, since I’m living in the area again 🙂

  11. I LOVE your to-do list, especially #8 and #15!! I started reading more…real books although on the iPad.
I have decided that I need to take baby steps on what I need to get done…otherwise it is never going to happen. Organize and budget…those are the things I could use some work on…

    • Baby steps are definitely the way to go. Any task, broken into small parts, seems less daunting. I also need to work on organizing and budgeting – especially in the area of time management!

  12. Happy New Year to you and your family! As for improving your knife skills I bet your nephews would love it more if you would improve your ninja skills! The yoga pants I love mine and have way too many pairs but it is more comfortable to walk in them than in my jeans. If I know I am going to the gym at lunch it is easier to dress in them first thing than to change my clothes. Though a friend of mine tells me it is a bad thing for my weight loss goals! Caroline and I saw a program on HGTV about multi-million dollar homes, the wine cellar in one of them was spectacular, bigger than and much nicer than my house! Happy 2015 wishing you much happiness and joy this year!

  13. Those all seem like totally realistic to do list items (or goals!). My friend told me about a site called NakedWines where you get to try a lot of new wines at discount. I was going to sign up today so I’ll let you know what I think. They love it.

    • Kate, I just got a coupon for NakedWines with my Shutterfly order. It almost sounds too good to be true. I’m glad to hear that you know someone who has had a good experience with the site. Keep me posted!

  14. I really like your to-do list – much better than resolutions. I am especially looking forward to #14 and #11! I am also signing up for French lessons – thru the local Community College. They have online sessions for the spring semester. I have never taken French, so if this grabs me, then I will take an in-person class. Maybe you can join me!

    • I love it, Frannie! The course I took before was at The French Institute of the North Shore in Winnetka. They were focused on conversation vs conjugation. I’m very curious to hear your review of the OCC course. Bon chance, mon amie!

  15. I’ve never been to Chicago, but I’d love to visit. And if you’ll be there too…

Your to-do list sounds very doable and quite fun – may you check off everything on it in 2015!
