About The Blog

THE NAME

When I started writing this blog, I came up with all sorts of clever names only to find out via a google search that they were already taken. I decided that I would have to make up my own word.

Mocadeaux (pronounced mocha dough) is a combination of my name and the French word for gifts because this place is all about celebrating life’s gifts.

CONTENT

Through Mocadeaux, I share stories about the adventures of life in my empty nest focusing on friends, family, food and wine. Lots of wine.  I love conversation with my readers. Share your thoughts! Share them often!  I welcome different points of view but reserve the right to delete comments that are malicious or spammy.  Let’s keep this as a space filled with support and positivity, ok?

Feel free to pin or otherwise link to images used here but please be sure to link back to the original source.  Link with Love!

My written content can also be shared with permission.  I’d love to have you spread the word, but I’d like to know where it is spreading!

IDENTITIES

All names, except mine, of course, have been changed to protect the privacy of my friends and family.

I never publish pictures of the faces of my adorable grandchildren. This is an editorial decision that honors the wishes of their parents and protects the little nuggets from crazy people.

Comments

  1. I stopped by to visit your blog after you visited mine today. I love your blog and wanted to leave comments on a couple of posts (I’m a big fan of Chihuly, for instance), but I wasn’t finding comment links on your posts. Did you shut them off or is my browser just not showing them (it has been behaving oddly lately). Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and thanks for visiting my blog.

    • Hi Adrian,
Loved your blog! Sorry about the hide and seek comment link! There is a “thought bubble” to the right of each post’s title. If you click on that, the comment box will appear. Or, I also learned while checking this out, if you open an individual post the comment box appears at the bottom of the page.
Thanks for taking the time to search this out and to leave me a message about it. I think I will make some changes to my format or at least think of some clever way to end posts so folks know where to leave comments. Thanks so much for your help!

  2. Hi, Mo. I found you via Barb at the empty nest mom. Imagine my surprise to click over here and learn you’re a Notre Dame alum (so’s my young adult son AKA Domer!!) I enjoyed reading your Letting Go post, and I’m bookmarking you so I can return — best wishes.

    • Hi, Debbie! Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you liked the letting go post. Notre Dame is a very special place. I bet that your son made some lifelong friends there as I did (including my husband!). Go Irish!!
