After almost 6 years, our California Adventure has come to an end.
Peter and I have moved back to our sweet home Chicago.
I readily admit that I was a reluctant Californian.
Of course, there are things I will miss. At the top of the list: being close to my brother, sister-in-law and nephews. I will miss the lovely friends we made along the way, the absence of bugs (I’ll have to get used to the scent of Eau de Mosquito Repellent again) and the gorgeous sunsets.
California is a perfectly lovely place with lots to offer and many very nice folks. But it just isn’t home.
I think that many of us have a particular place we are drawn to, a place that makes our heart sing, a place where we are most comfortable – a geographic soul mate, if you will.
For me that’s right here in the home of the best pizza, the nicest people, the prettiest skyline, the Cubs, the Blackhawks, the Bulls, Da Bears and four glorious, sometimes harsh, sometimes spectacular but always different seasons.
We are so very fortunate to have been able to keep our house in Chicago while we were on “sabbatical” in California. That has made the move and the transition back very easy.
However, because Peter and I always like to do things in an unconventional manner, we are leaving tomorrow for a long planned trip to Sonoma and Napa. We just can’t help ourselves.
We recently bought this guy to help us carry wine back with us as checked luggage.
Like I said, we just can’t help ourselves.
I’ll keep you posted on new wines we discover, great winery experiences and the rest of our adventures.
Then, after a week of wine tasting, I will really, truly be returning HOME.Thanks for stopping by,
