The Sunshine Award

sunshine award

Now for some fun.

The fabulous Kristen from 31 Million Seconds nominated me for the Sunshine Award! This means that I get to answer some questions about myself and then pass the torch to 10 blog pals.

Kristen’s questions for me were:

  1. Night owl or early bird? Definitely a night owl especially when my husband is out of town. I stay up waaaaay too late.
  2. Would you rather be hot or cold? I hate being hot. I love the cold weather and snow. My theory is that if you are cold you can put on more layers of clothes. If you are hot you can only take off so many layers before someone calls the police.
  3. If you could only eat one thing, every meal, for the rest of your life, what would it be? I’m a simple girl – pizza. I have been known to eat pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner and am proud of it.
  4. If you could have any superpower what would it be? I would choose the ability to teleport instantly from place to place. Although I wouldn’t earn as many frequent flyer miles, I would spend a lot less on plane tickets.
  5. What did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a lawyer like my dad. Except that I have a terrible memory and don’t like to read very much so it wasn’t going to work out for me. Instead I became an accountant (YIPPEE!) and have a son, son-in-law and daughter-in-law who are attorneys. REPRESENT!
  6. What do you miss most about being a kid? I was lucky enough to go to overnight camp with my sister for several summers when we were kids. I had an absolutely incredible and memorable time and am so, so thankful that I was given that opportunity.
  7. If you had one hour of free time right now, what would you do with it? I would call my kids and FaceTime with my grand babies. Then I would call my mom.
  8. What is the most played song on your iPod? Although it was not listed as one of my three favorite CDs, I tend to hit “replay” the most when R.E.M.’s “It’s The End of the World As We Know It” plays. One of these days I’m going to master all of the lyrics and be able to sing it from start to finish. (Plus, random fact, it references debaters – folks who are near and dear to my heart.)
  9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? This is the easiest question of all. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be in my beloved Chicago. My dream is to have a condo in the River North neighborhood and my wonderful house in the suburbs. Peter says that the condo in the city is called “a hotel”. Seems he doesn’t want to own that much real estate in Cook County.
  10. If you could time travel, either into the past or the future, where would you like to go? Wow, this is a tough one. I presume I am visiting just to see what’s going on and not to change the course of history. (Sorry, I tend to over think things…) I would probably go back in time to see the movie of my life. As previously mentioned, I have a terrible memory so it would be nice to re-live my childhood and my kids’ childhood. If given the chance to see everything again, I’d try really, really hard to commit each minute to memory.

Now it’s my turn to spread the love. The 10 bloggers I am nominating for The Sunshine Award are:

Karen Main

Katie at The Preppy Empty Nester

Deanna at Chi City Mom

Kelly McKenzie

Kate at Another Clean Slate

Kim at Being A Wordsmith

Barb at riteWhileUCan

Susan at This Happy Mom

Julia at Mom On The Run x2

Sarah at Left Brain Buddha

Maybe you just want to do the questions and not forward the ten nominations. That is A-OK. This is not a chain letter and no curse will befall you, I promise. Participate as much or as little as you want.

But if you DO want to join in the fun, here are the “rules”:

  1. Include the award logo in a post or on your blog.
  2. Link to the person who nominated you.
  3. Answer 10 questions about yourself and write 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.

Ready to play? Here are my questions for you:

  1. Where were you born?
  2. Do you prefer romantic comedies or suspense thrillers?
  3. What is your favorite sport (to watch or to participate in)?
  4. What is your favorite sound?
  5. Coke or Pepsi?
  6. Do you have a special talent?
  7. PC or Mac?
  8. What is your favorite vacation spot?
  9. Do you collect anything?
  10. If you could instantly be an expert in any field, what would it be?

  1. Ooohhh…. you ask fun questions. 🙂 Thanks for the nomination.

  2. Haha I miss chain letters. Thanks for the recommendation, friend!

  3. Thank you, Mo!!!! I am so flattered. Hope I do it right… Anyway, I was reading your answers and thought if we lived near each other, you would be my friend. Pizza is my favorite food, I LOVE the Windy City, I went to overnight camp and cherish all the memories. The only thing we don’t have in common is that I’m an early bird. We could work around that tho! OK… I’m going to work on my answers. Do my nominees get the same questions as me?

    • Hahaha! I love it! Kindred spirits! You’re right, we can work out that early bird night owl thing! Feel free to make up new questions for your nominees or re-use any of the ones I answered or passed along for you to answer. I had fun coming up with ten new questions but you can play the came however you would like!

  4. cold pizza is the best! as much as i love chicago, the cold weather killed me so i cannot live there, but definitely love that city. i’m also a night owl!!!

  5. Night owls unite! I would much rather stay up late than get up early. Thanks for playing along. I loved reading your answers!

  6. Well deserved Sunshine Award, Mo. Numbers 1-4: I have the same answers. Most people prefer hot to cold, but I’m with you. I’d rather bundle up than be sweltering with no relief. And Chicago – I’ve never been. It’s only a two hour flight – why haven’t I been there yet?

  7. Love this Mo and thanks for the nomination – I’ll get to work on my answers! I really enjoyed reading yours. Thanks for mixing up the questions for us nominees too. Cannot believe that you like the cold as well. I love it. There’s a hotel in Quebec City that is made entirely of ice. You sit on ice blocks up at the bar to order your ice wine … care to join me?

  8. I hear ya about being hot. I live in Texas (though originally from New York) and man can it get hot here. At least it’s just a couple of months out of the year, the rest are beautiful. Still not a long-term place for me.

It was a pleasure reading more about you. ^_^

  9. You made me laugh with the hot/cold thing. I’m sorry, but I absolutely hate being cold. I don’t mind being too hot (if there is such a thing)…I’ll risk someone calling the police!

    • Well, Sheryl, we will have to agree to disagree on the hot vs cold thing. Even though I was born in Florida I’ve never been a hot weather gal. Go figure!

  10. I’m a night owl, pizza lover myself! The lawyering just skipped a generation in your family. You TOTALLY represented! WOOT! This was so much fun to read. I love your idea about time travel. What a perfect way to do it. I’d love to see my kids little again! Aw! There is so much I thought I’d never forget that I did! –Lisa

  11. Oh how fun! I am so doing this. I am catching up from my short break away from the comp so this came at a perfect time!

I love doing this interviews, I guess it’s the Social Work in me.
I have a condo in the city, now to get my house in the suburbs, I’m set :-p
